Music for Wiek by Douwe Eisenga goes to China.

The Macau Band Directors Association Saxophone Ensemble, conducted by Hugo Loi, will perform the 40-minute live version of Music for Wiek for saxophone orchestra and percussion septet. The performances will take place on February 7 and 8 at the Black Box Theatre II, Macau Cultural Centre in Macau, China.
These concerts are part of the ensemble’s annual event, the Phone Show Carnival, which this year is themed Echo of Simplicity. The program will feature works such as U-Sax, Here to There, Narayana’s Cows, On the Nature of Daylight, Groove Machine, and Music for Wiek, showcasing compositions by Theodor Burkali, Max Richter, Marc Mellits, and Dutch composer Douwe Eisenga.
Eisenga will attend both performances with the support of a travel grant from the Performing Arts Fund NL. On February 9, he will also present a lecture titled Back to the Groove – Minimal Music and Beyond, exploring the history and key developments of Minimal Music up to the present day.
Originally commissioned in 2009 by Boukje Schweigman for a location-based performance by Schweigman&, Music for Wiek continues to be performed internationally.
The event is organized by the Macau Band Directors Association and sponsored by the Macau SAR Government Cultural Development Fund, with additional support from the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macau Cultural Centre Venue Rental Discount.
