Emile Mosseri

Emile Mosseri is an American composer, pianist, singer, and producer renowned for his evocative film scores and distinctive musical style. Born on August 11, 1985, in New York City, he grew up in Chappaqua, New York. Mosseri studied film scoring at Berklee College of Music.

In his early career, Mosseri was a member of the indie-rock band The Dig, contributing to albums such as “Electric Toys” (2010) and “Midnight Flowers” (2012). Transitioning to film composition, he gained recognition for scoring “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” (2019), which showcased his ability to blend classical and contemporary sounds. He continued this trajectory with scores for Miranda July’s “Kajillionaire” (2020) and Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” (2020). His work on “Minari” earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score.

Beyond film, Mosseri has collaborated with artists like Angel Olsen, Mary Lattimore, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. In 2023, he released his debut solo album, “Heaven Hunters,” produced by Bobby Krlic. This album is described as both expansive and cinematic, delving into themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. Following this, Mosseri announced his sophomore album, “tryin to be born,” set for release on February 28, 2025. This album emphasizes live, in-the-moment collaboration and explores the nuances of long-term companionship.
